Grassroots

Care for ME:

MHCA's Care for ME grassroots advocacy program plays a major role in our legislative success.  Since its inception nearly five years ago, the program has grown in strength and numbers.  In its early stages, the Association and its member facility owners and administrators were the driving force behind the campaign's efforts.  We are pleased to report that our grassroots network has expanded to include thousands of long term care employees.  From Certified Nurse Aides to Directors of Social Services, our employees answer the call to action with enthusiasm and courtesy.

Our Care for ME letterhead and logo distinguishes the campaign as an advocacy effort. Through our communication staple, the Action Alert, we mobilize our network as needed during the busy legislative session.  These alerts explain in simple detail what is happening at the legislature and what we need to do about it.  We include sensible talking points and legislative contact lists.

Grassroots Manual:

In an effort to increase member participation in our Care for ME campaign, the Association undertook a large project in the development and publication of our Grassroots Manual.  We were, and are, committed to giving members the necessary tools to be prepared and conversant when asked to conduct grassroots lobbying. The Grassroots Manual was recently updated for 2007. Members can download a copy of the Manual under the Members Only page.

If you have any questions or would like additional information on our Care for ME program and/or our Grassroots Manual, please contact Nadine Grosso, Director of Communications (207.623.1146 Ext. 202 or Email: ngrosso@mehca.org.
