MHCA Business and Insurance Services:
Since 1981, the Maine Health Care Association has offered its members a group purchasing program. This program combines the purchasing power of its members, making available the highest quality goods and services for the lowest possible price, through significant discounts and group rates on products and services.
In 2000, the Association established MHCA Business Services, Inc. (replacing the Shared Services Cooperative. With this new venture came the affiliation with MedAssets HCSA (formerly InSource Health Services), a national group purchasing organization. Through its local contracts and MedAsset's national contracts (contract listing), Association members have gained access to a wide variety of products and services in the areas of administrative and office equipment/supplies, dietary and food service, medical supplies, medical and capital equipment, clinical services, and facility maintenance.
Through MHCA Business Services, Inc., and its partnership with Cross Insurance Agency, members are able to access property and casualty insurance. Through its affiliate MHCA Insurance Services, LLC, and its partnership with Acadia Benefits Inc., members are able to access insurance coverages in the areas of medical, dental, group life, long-term and short-term disability, long-term care, 401(K) plans, voluntary benefits, and flexible benefit plans.
Our group purchasing program continues to grow in member support, generating significant non-dues revenue that allows the Association to keep membership dues down, while providing members products and services at discounted prices. We continue to review new ideas for products and services to offer our members.
