Legislative & Regulatory Affairs

Legislative Efforts:

Your Voice at the Capitol

MHCA continues to be the leading voice of long term care at the Maine Legislature.  Whether it's testifying at a public hearing, answering questions at a work session or meeting with key legislators, MHCA is present and engaged in the issues affecting your business.  With the input and guidance of MHCA's Board of Directors and Legislative Committee, the association sets legislative strategies and goals consistent with member needs and operations.

Regulatory Efforts:

Representing Your Interests

Just as MHCA is your voice in the legislature, we also work diligently with the many regulatory agencies that govern and affect your facility operations.  We champion your interests, seek regulatory reform and relief and represent you at public hearings during the rule making process. As your source of regulatory information, we also provide members with a weekly notice of state rulemaking activities in our MHCA E-News.  This communication educates members about pending and current regulation while offering ample time for member response and comment.

MHCA continues to make outreach to state agency offices by taking the lead in requesting and receiving face-to-face meetings with top agency officials.  We have also intervened on behalf of individual members on issues as appropriate.
