Certified Residential Medication Aide Course - 40 Hour Course: The CRMA courses listed below follow the standardized CRMA curriculum designed and provided by the State of Maine, Department of Health and Human Services, effective September 1, 2003. The curriculum requires 40 hours of classroom time offered over five days, as well as a clinical component under the supervision of a clinical supervisor (RN). Upon successful completion of this course, participants will receive certificates from DHHS and be certified to provide medication administration in the residential setting. Re-certification is required every two years. The registration fee includes all training materials. Classes are from 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., unless otherwise indicated. Class enrollment will be limited to 12 participants.

Certified Residential Medication Aide Course - 24 Hour Course: Homes serving persons with mental retardation licensed by DHHS as "Level III" are granted a waiver from the 5-day CRMA course until July 1, 2006. Students completing the following 24 hour CRMA course will be certified to pass medications in a Level III BDS setting only. This curriculum was previously approved by DHHS. Classes are from 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Class enrollment will be limited to 12 participants.

CRMA Recertification: This course has been approved by the Maine Department of Health & Human Services, Bureau of Elder and Adult Services Assisted Living Licensing Services. This one-day recertification course is designed for CRMA’s to maintain certification to administer medications in residential care facilities. Recertification training is required every two years and MUST be completed no later than 30 days beyond the expiration date. If a CRMA’s certificate has expired, the individual must CEASE administering medications until he/she has been recertified. Classes are from 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. unless noted. Class enrollment will be limited to 15 participants.

Personal Support Specialist (PSS): This 50-hour training is designed for unlicensed entry-level workers. Successful completion of this course satisfies DHHS training requirements for direct care workers for certain home care programs and residential care facilities. The PSS curriculum is a standard curriculum and replaces any programs previously approved for Personal Care Attendants (PCAs) and Residential Care Specialists I (RCS 1s). Manual and textbook included in fee. Classes are from 8:30-4:30 p.m. Class enrollment limited to 12 participants.

ServSafe: This two-day course is a nationally recognized food safety program designed to train food service staff on how to protect the health of employees and residents. It also provides ways to prepare and serve high quality nutritional food for today’s discriminating consumers. The curriculum focuses on preventing food-related illnesses and assists with developing and implementing a food safety system. Registration fee includes manual, exam, and certificate. Classes are from 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Class enrollment will be limited to 30 participants.
