Housekeeper

The primary purpose of your job position is to provide a clean and safe environment for residents and staff.  Minimum requirements: Be at least 21 years of age; must have a minimum of a high school diploma or equivalency; must have at least two  years of work experience in general maintenance and repairs or a related area; demonstrate organizational skills; demonstrate genuine interest in working with the elderly and exhibits good human relation skills; must have a valid Maine driver’s license and safe driving record per insurance standards; must be able to follow oral and written instructions; must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language; within one hundred twenty (120) days of hire, all staff, other than CNA’s and licensed professional staff whose job responsibilities include direct services to residents for at least twenty (20) hours per week, shall successfully complete a certification course approved by the Department.  The Personal Support Specialist course. Working Conditions: Frequent standing and walking; may be subject to frequent interruptions, emotionally upset persons, injury from falls, burns, dust, odors, chemicals and exposure to infectious wastes and diseases, including, but not limited to, AIDS and Hepatitis-B; works beyond normal duty hours, on weekends and in other positions when assigned or necessary; is subject to callback during emergency conditions (i.e., severe weather, evacuations, post-disasters, etc.) For any and all positions, please contact Deanna Wakefield at 207-872-8414. Housekeeping/Laundry

Independence Advocates of Maine, Inc. is currently seeking a per-diem housekeeping/laundry attendant at our ICF-IID facility located in Orono, Maine. This position covers for regular employees during vacations and call outs at our residential program that serves adults with intellectual and physical disabilities. Must have high school diploma or GED and be comfortable interacting with adults with disabilities. Experience in housekeeping preferred.
