Facilities Manager

The Facilities Manager is responsible for the proper environmental care and services of the Home. The Facilities Manager ensures uninterrupted and efficient mechanical operation and optimum maintenance in order to provide a safe, functional, sanitary and comfortable environment for the residents, employees and the public, and ensures building and grounds compliance with all federal and state regulations. Directly supervises maintenance staff. Essential Functions of the Job: Must be knowledgeable of OSHA, ADA, NFPA, and federal, state, VA and other regulations governing health care facilities; knowledgeable of computerized controlled environmental and telephone systems; ability to read and work from sketches and blueprints; knowledgeable of the use of equipment of the building and related mechanical trades, landscaping, and custodial functions; knowledgeable of the hazards involved and safety precautions necessary in building and equipment maintenance and repair, and grounds keeping work; must have record of effective leadership and administrative skills, and ability to develop, organize and direct staff to provide quality services to residents; must have professional knowledge of the methods and practice of environmental care. Experience and Skills: A minimum of four years of experience, education and/or training in general maintenance and repair work, providing a basic knowledge of carpentry, masonry, electrical work, plumbing, painting, grounds keeping, custodial functions; and operation, repair and preventive maintenance on boilers, heating and ventilation systems, fire alarm systems, and emergency and suppression systems. Must be knowledgeable in building codes and safety regulations. Previous supervisory experience/training required. Must possess a valid State of Maine driver’s license in good standing. Experience in a nursing home environment preferred. Maintenance Director
