Now is a good time to familiarize yourself with the members of the 129th Legislature, the Committees and let us know of any personal or professional relationship you may have with key policymakers. This can be very helpful to MHCA staff as we lobby at the State House. It is also a good time to invite legislators into your homes to educate them about what you do.
The toolkit also included the following links to resources that are housed electronically under the Advocacy tab on MHCA's web site (www.mehca.org):
Community Forums and Facility Tours
Testifying at a State Legislative Hearing
The Ten Informal Rules of Lobbying
For up-to-date information on the Maine House of Representatives, Senate, hearings, Committees, bill status, etc., please visit the Maine Legislature link anytime: http://legislature.maine.gov/.
This toolkit effectively replaces the hard copy MHCA Grassroots Manual. As always, we will issue action alerts as needed and continue to keep you informed of legislative happenings via email and the MHCA E-News. If you have any questions or comments, please email me at ngrosso@mehca.org.
