MHCA Workforce Development Committee holds first meeting

MHCA's Workforce Development Committee met recently for the first time to hear from MHCA staff on items already in progress and set an agenda going forward. In addition to other ideas, the Committee recommended that MHCA continue communicating with the Division of Licensing and Certification to expedite their rulemaking and internal processes to align with the newly adopted Board of Nursing rules to place "non-traditional" (i.e. out of state) CNAs on Maine's Registry.
The group also is considering how to broaden the MHCA Celebrating Excellence awards program to become a CNA/Caregiver education and celebration day, to include an awards luncheon and possibly be held in two locations.
Committee members agreed that the previously produced MHCA Caregiver videos are still very relevant and valuable and directed staff to research how to use in a second Social Media campaign that may include Instagram; the first campaign ran on Facebook and YouTube.
The next meeting is set for April 11, 2019 immediately following the MHCA Board Meeting at MHCA offices in Augusta. For more information, please contact
