Description:
Assisted Housing Programs in Maine – i.e. assisted living, independent housing with services, residential care facilities – provide a variety of services (clinical and supportive care) designed to meet residents’ needs, in a safe environment, while honoring their right to independence, choice and decision making. This unprecedented COVID-19 pandemic has presented challenges for these communities as they work to ensure adequate protections and follow state/federal recommendations.
Given that infection prevention practices are the new normal for all long-term care facilities, MHCA created this four-part, web-based series and corresponding toolkit (with infection prevention policy templates) to support assisted housing providers in their efforts. The content aligns with CMS infection prevention practices, CDC guidance on outbreaks and surveillance and infection prevention best practices. Topics include infection control and reducing risk, standard/other type precautions, personal protective equipment, department-specific procedures, COVID-19 policies and procedures, and more.
