We are so excited to tell you about our NEW E-Learning Program. In response to member requests, this year, our educational calendar will include at least one e-learning seminar every month. These “live” broadcasts will be offered in short segments (1-3hrs) using the online ZOOM platform. Each program will be a stand-alone session so, should you decide to participate, you will register and pay for e-learning seminars individually. For details about CEU requirements, process and more, see the E-Learning Program Overview.
Program Description: Teams of caregivers, including professionals and families, are supporting people living with dementia for a decade or longer. Recognizing changes throughout this long disease can feel like detective work. In this seminar, award-winning occupational therapist and dementia care specialist, Heather McKay, will focus on foundational reminders (the nuts and bolts of dementia) and the latest information about the progression of the disease. Emphasis will be on how to match helping behaviors to residents’ needs and retained abilities, thereby promoting a sense of control and self-direction for the person living with dementia. No stage of this disease is easy but care teams who understand the timeline and cooperate to redesign plans as the person’s needs change, will consistently provide the right support at the right time--improving life for people with dementia and each other.
How to Register: The Invitation to Register for this session was sent to our MEMBER Education Email List on October 4th.
