Make Yourself Valuable! 7 Qualities to Turbo-Charge Your Career
Del Gilbert

Each one of us is a crucially important member of our workplace team. Maine’s long term care industry is fortunate to have thousands of dedicated, hardworking, compassionate individuals who show up each day and care for our most vulnerable citizens. In this session, attendees will learn that there are two parts to job success: technical knowledge and?winning behaviors. While technical knowledge is very specific to your unique role, winning behaviors are universal. Winning behaviors take no talent or specialized skill, yet?they will enable?you to stand out from the crowd. In this session, attendees will learn about the seven winning behaviors. You will be given fifteen practical ways to demonstrate winning?behaviors every day on the job. Attending this session will help you become a person of influence in your team and enhance your?career at the?same time!

Vitamin Q!
Marguerite McLaughlin
Vitamins have different jobs to help keep the body working properly. Some vitamins help you resist infections and keep your nerves healthy, while others may help your body get energy from food or help your blood clot properly. Many people would say that vitamins are what keep them running at their best. Vitamin Q keeps nursing homes running at their best! What’s Vitamin Q, you ask?! In this session, we’ll talk about Vitamin Q (Q for quality) and the ways that frontline workers infuse Vitamin Q into their setting . . . even in the midst of a global pandemic!

Sustaining Compassion
Jill Gardner
Compassion is a critical part of delivering high quality care. Compassion satisfaction is the feeling of pride and well-being we get from caring for others. It is also normal, however, for frontline workers to experience compassion fatigue, burnout, and secondary trauma. This workshop explains the causes and consequences of these phenomena and discusses coping strategies.

Inspiring Change
Marguerite McLaughlin
Change happens when committed people with great ideas lift their voice and hearts and hands to make things happen. It doesn’t matter where you fall in the organizational chart. You can make a huge difference by inspiring your friends and colleagues. Many people, offer themselves as mentors-some informally and others, through a formal process.  In this session, we’ll take time to talk about you as a change agent and mentor and think about some valuable actions you can take to inspire others.
