Nursing homes and assisted housing communities have adapted and responded over time, not always by design but sometimes by default when faced with unforeseen side effects of health and welfare policy. This has never been truer than during the worldwide COVID-19 pandemic of this past year. The ‘new normal’ practice of sheltering our residents in place and restricting community movement of our staff has created a major obstacle to our residents' quality of life and sense of involvement within our society.
This session will discuss the ‘new normal’ of COVID-19 practices as it applies to community engagement. What are the policies and procedures that homes must employ to support the CDC and CMS regulatory requirements while supporting our residents' life enrichment? How do we communicate this with our families and staff members? What about residents who are willing to ignore the CDC warnings? We will spend this session providing a review of current expectations and the best practice solutions to accompany this very challenging issue.
This web-based program will be hosted LIVE (via Zoom) from 1:00PM to 3:00PM on December 29, 2020. For more information, you may refer to the Event Flyer.
