Assisted Housing Programs in Maine – i.e. assisted living, independent housing with services, residential care facilities – provide a variety of services (both clinical and supportive care) designed to meet residents’ needs, in a safe environment, while honoring their right to independence, choice and decision making. This unprecedented COVID-19 pandemic has presented challenges for these communities as they work to ensure adequate protections and follow state/federal recommendations.

Given that infection prevention practices are the "new normal" for all long-term care facilities, MHCA has created this four-part, web-based educational program and corresponding toolkit (with infection prevention policy templates) specifically to support assisted housing providers in these efforts. The content aligns with CMS infection prevention practices, CDC guidance on outbreaks and surveillance and infection prevention best practices. Topics include infection control and reducing risk, standard and other type precautions, personal protective equipment, department-specific procedures, COVID-19 policies and procedures, and more. Please refer to the Program Flyer for speaker biographies.

MHCA will use ZOOM to broadcast this four-part series from 9:00AM to 10:30AM on the following dates:  July 13, 14, 20 & 21, 2020. If you are new to Zoom, we encourage you to visit the Help Desk in advance for training resources and videos.
