MDS v1.18.11 Updates and the Impact on Quality Measures
The MDS updates coming in October will be the largest, most significant update to the MDS 3.0 since its’ implementation Oct. 1, 2010. These changes will impact data collection and documentation practices, and will bring considerable change to CMS Quality Measures. CMS has indicated updates to the Quality Measures Users’ Manual later this year, however, we must start to prepare now with the information we do have. Organizations need to understand these changes and the impact they will have on their publicly reported outcomes to develop new operational strategy.
Learning Objectives:
- Understand how to find and use resources needed for successful implementation of MDS 1.18.11.
- Describe pieces of the IMPACT Act of 2014 that will impact changes to MDS 1.18.11.
- Anticipate what MDS items will be used to drive quality measures.
- Discuss changes to resident interviews.
- Develop a plan to begin preparation for implementation of v1.18.11 in your facility.
