Registered Nurse

POSITION SUMMARY
The Registered Nurse (RN) delivers care to residents while ensuring all applicable laws, regulations, and company standards are met. Reports to Director of Nursing (DON).

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
CLINICAL
-Knowledgeable of nursing practices and procedures as well as the laws, regulations, and guidelines governing nursing functions in the long-term care facility; we are happy to teach new graduates and nurses new to the Long Term and Skilled Nursing.
-Knowledgeably and competently deliver basic nursing care to residents.
-Must be able to evaluate resident’s needs through ongoing assessment and revises care plan based on changes in resident’s condition.
-Chart appropriately and timely within our electronic medical record.
Concentrate and use reasoning skills and good judgment.
-Interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests to identify and assess resident’s condition.
-Monitor, record and report symptoms and changes in residents’ conditions.
Maintain accurate, detailed reports and records.
-Modify resident treatment plans as indicated by residents’ responses and conditions.
-Monitor all aspects of care, including diet and physical activity.
-Consult and coordinate with health care team members to assess, plan, implement and evaluate resident care plans.
-Instruct individuals, families on topics such as health education, disease prevention, and develop health improvement programs.
-Prepare residents for, and assist with, examinations and treatments.
-Prepare rooms, sterile instruments, equipment and supplies, and ensure that stock of supplies is maintained.
 PROFESSIONAL
Must be dependable, regular attendance.
Communicate and function in an interdisciplinary team.
Maintain current knowledge of nursing practice.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Education: Possess a diploma, AS or BS degree in nursing.
Experience: Six months to one year related experience; new graduates are considered!

SKILLS & ABILITIES
Knowledge and use of Electronic Medical Records and/or solid computer skills
Strong communication skills, both in writing and verbally
Effective leadership skills and/or ability to invest in growing this skill
Read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
Certificates and Licenses
Must be currently registered/licensed in Maine.
Must have CPR certification upon hire or obtained during orientation. CPR certification must remain current during employment.
