Chief Executive Officer (CEO)
The Maine Veterans’ Homes seeks an experienced, forward-thinking leader to carry on the organization’s commitment to providing best in class care to Maine’s veteran population.  This is a unique opportunity to step into an organization providing award-winning, nationally recognized service to veterans and their families and build on that excellent foundation to develop innovative solutions to support the next generation of veterans.

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) has the leadership responsibility for the operation, maintenance, future and wellbeing of the Maine Veterans' Homes (MVH) System. The CEO works in coordination with the Board of Trustees, MVH management and staff, and with veterans and other interested constituencies to develop short and long-term goals and strategies to achieve MVH’s mission and vision. The CEO oversees all operations and functions of MVH in accordance with MVH policies, and state, federal, and VA laws, regulations, and requirements in alignment with our commitment to quality care for our residents.  The CEO acts as official spokesperson in coordination with the Chairperson of the Board and represents MVH to its employees, veterans, veterans' organizations, the community, the public, and governmental bodies. 
The CEO is the organizational ambassador for MVH’s core values of:

  • Excellent administrative and leadership skills to lead a large, multi-location organization.
  • Leadership experience in nursing home care or health care field is essential.
  • Sound working knowledge of financial management and the ability to analyze and interpret and communicate complex financial concepts related to health care revenue/billing to a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to interpret the organization’s needs and Board of Trustees directives to develop short and long-range plans, policies and procedures.
  • Ability to work effectively and create strong relationships with governmental and regulatory representatives to ensure that veterans needs are met. Strong understanding of the legislative and regulatory process to advocate for changes that will benefit MVH and veterans.
  • Effective communicator, both verbally and in writing, with a wide range of people internally and externally in the business, veterans, governmental and regulatory communities.
  • Knowledgeable of federal, state, and VA regulations for long-term care.
  • Veteran preferred.
