RN Director, Residential Care
Maine Veterans’ Homes is a mission-driven, independent nonprofit organization, with six nursing homes throughout Maine. We are dedicated to serving Maine’s Veterans and families and take great pride in our mission to "care for those who served".
We are seeking a RN to manage and direct our 28-bed Residential Care wing. The Residential Care Director is responsible for ensuring the necessary care and services are provided to each resident and assists him/her in maintaining the highest level of physical, psychological, social, and spiritual well-being in accordance with the resident care plan and standards of federal, state, and VA regulations.
Job-related responsibilities include:
- Plans, organizes, evaluates, and ensures delivery of quality care to each resident by initiating and coordinating the comprehensive interdisciplinary care plan, in compliance with state and federal regulations, and MVHA policies and procedures.
- Ensures the identification, management, and treatment of medical issues as they arise.
- Oversees, completes, and maintains nursing/medical records according to procedure in order to document resident outcomes and meet state, federal, and VA regulations.
- Coordinates all required documentation including MDS, monthly resident status reports and progress notes, ensuring that documentation is informative, descriptive, and reflective of the resident's care plan. Ensures that all resident information is current, accurate, and updated as the resident's condition(s) dictate.
- Works closely with the Administrator on a variety of management issues regarding nursing services, policies, regulatory requirements, general operations, human resources, and strategic planning.
- Works with social services and other staff regarding admissions and discharge planning.

Requirements |
- Candidate must possess a current, unencumbered, active license to practice as a RN in the state of Maine.
- Must have professional knowledge of the methods and practice of residential care.
- At least five (5) years of clinical experience; two (2) years in long-term care preferred.
- Experience or training in such areas as geriatrics, residential care education, and dementia is desirable.
- The ideal candidate will have the knowledge and skills necessary to provide effective leadership and engage in purposeful communication, as well as experiences that exhibit creativity, integrity, and initiative.
