Minimum Wage Adjustments to Nursing Home and Residential Care Facilities Rate Effective January 1, 2023

MaineCare has adjusted reimbursement rates retroactive to January 1, 2023 for Nursing Facilities and Residential Care Facilities (PNMI, Appendix C) in accordance with P.L. 2021 Ch. 398, Part AAAA in order to continue to enable providers to cover labor costs for essential support workers to at least 125% of the minimum wage. The Department has received approval from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) for the rate adjustment for Nursing Facilities, and is seeking approval for the adjustment to Residential Care Facilities rates. You can read the announcement here.

Rate letters for these rates effective January 1, 2023, for providers of Section 67 and Section 97, Appendix C were posted at the Health PAS Online Portal on December 30, 2022. The rates are in the system as of February 1, 2023.  

Providers may now bill the new rates that were provided on their January 1, 2023, rate letters. For questions on rates please contact the individual listed on the rate letter.
