MaineCare Will Deny Claims That Do Not Include an Attending Provider

Please be reminded that, effective April 1, 2023, in alignment with Medicare, MaineCare will deny claims that do not include an attending provider, as noted in the December 2022 e-message, here: https://www.maine.gov/dhhs/oms/providers/provider-bulletins/reminder-billing-attending-provider-ub-04-and-837i-claims-cr-110840-2022-12-22
 
Overall, across all providers (not just NFs and RCFs), compliance has improved so that only 4% of claims received a “warn” in November through January, down from 22% in August. The Department is also tracking individual providers who may need help/outreach.
