Rate Study Underway: MaineCare Convenes Long Term Services and Supports Needs Assessment Workgroup

MaineCare provided notice that they initiated a rate determination process for Section 67, Nursing Facilities and Section 97, Residential Care Facilities. As part of that determination process, MaineCare and their vendor (Guidehouse Inc.) are hosting several workgroups with a diverse stakeholder group to obtain important feedback.

Last week, the Long Term Services and Supports Needs Assessment workgroup convened. The purpose of this workgroup is to advise DHHS on how best to identify LTSS services and gaps by county. DHHS also seeks assistance with methods for modeling future needs informed by demographic trends. This work will serve as a guide as the department decides how to invest in sustainable living for older adults throughout the state. This workgroup will address the continuum of services, including home care, day services, and residential and nursing facilities.

This week the Provider Rate Reform Work group also met. Stakeholder group presentation materials and a recording of the discussions will be uploaded to the MaineCare Rate System Reform webpage
