May 18, 2023 Legislative Update

Since last week, MHCA monitored and represented long term care at hearings and work sessions at the Committees for Appropriations and Financial Affairs; Health Coverage, Insurance, and Financial Services; Health and Human Services; and Innovation, Development, Economic Advancement, and Business. A highlight was Angela Cole Westhoff's testimony on the Governor's proposed change package to the biennial budget. 

Next week's schedule is still being developed, but LD 451 An Act to Ensure Transparent and Accountable Temporary Nurse Agencies is already scheduled for another work session on Wednesday, May 24. MHCA, members, and partner organizations support this bill as a step towards improving the ongoing challenges related to staffing agencies.
