June 1, 2023 Legislative Update

Most of the committee work is complete for the 131st Long Session. The remaining few weeks of the legislature will be focused on funding votes by the Appropriations and Financial Affairs Committee and final votes within the entire chambers (House and Senate). 

This week, the Health and Human Services is wrapping up its final recommendations on a few outstanding bills, including the language for two MHCA priority bills: LD 451 An Act to Ensure Transparent and Accountable Temporary Nurse Agencies and LD 1474 Resolve, Directing the Department of Health and Human Services to Expedite Reimbursement of Nursing Facilities. 

The MHCA team will continue its diligent advocacy about the importance that the state provides adequate MaineCare reimbursement rates and bridge funding to support long term care residents until rate reform is implemented in 2025.
