Complying with Requests for Medical Records

The CMS- Medicare Learning Network has recently released an enhanced informational document titled “Complying with Medical Record Documentation Requirements”.  This fact sheet offers revised information and illustrative examples to aid healthcare providers in ensuring the comprehensive submission of all necessary supporting documents.
 
CMS employs the Comprehensive Error Rate Testing (CERT) methodology for auditing and identifying improper payments. In certain cases, the CERT vendor may seek supplementary documentation from the provider. Ensuring a robust response to these additional record requests is crucial for expediting the assessment process and facilitating prompt payment.
