Updated CMS Surveyor Resources

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) have recently made several updates to resources available to surveyors, which can be accessed within the Survey Resources folder on their website. These modifications are primarily technical in nature and seem to be aimed at eliminating outdated information that is no longer relevant.

The revisions encompass the following changes:
  • The removal of the requirement to submit the CMS-672 on the Entrance Conference Worksheet. This change aligns with CMS's previous directive indicating their discontinuation of the use of this form.
  • Adjustments to several Survey Pathways, instructing surveyors to obtain information from Section GG instead of Section G of the Minimum Data Set (MDS). This modification is in response to MDS changes that took effect on October 1, 2023.
  • On the CMS-802 form, CMS has eliminated the request for information regarding "worsened pressure ulcers at any stage." Instead, CMS now requests facilities to provide information about all residents with pressure ulcers that were not present upon admission.
  • Additional updates specific to surveyor procedures, both during the offsite portion of the survey and throughout an extended survey process, have also been implemented.
