Hanley Center Forum 2024: Embracing Age Equity in Healthcare, Overcoming Ageism

Join the Hanley Center for a Forum on Embracing Age Equity in Healthcare, Overcoming Ageism on May 2nd at the Harraseeket Inn in Freeport, ME. Attendees will explore ageism, age equity, and foster age-positivity in healthcare. Ageism refers to prejudice and discrimination based on age, while age equity seeks to create fairness and equal opportunities for people of all ages. Age-positivity challenges negative stereotypes of aging and celebrates the strengths and contributions of individuals at different life stages.

During this daylong event, attendees will delve into various aspects of ageism, including the impact of discrimination in healthcare and workforce development. We will explore strategies to combat ageism, such as policy changes, and age-inclusive practices. We will also acknowledge and discuss how we can enhance the experiences of marginalized older adults, such as LGBTQ+ individuals, people with disabilities, and racial/ethnic minorities.
