Updated Guidance for RSV Vaccine
Adults aged 75 and up should receive the respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) vaccine before the fall, according to
new guidance from the CDC's Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP). For those aged 60 to 74, the vaccine is recommended only if they are at risk for severe RSV due to chronic conditions like lung or heart disease. These guidelines, approved on Wednesday, apply only to those who did not receive the RSV vaccine last year, as it is not recommended annually. The best time for the RSV vaccine is in late summer or early fall, before the virus begins to spread more widely.
