Successful Return of MHCA Leadership Symposium

On June 27th, the MHCA Leadership Symposium was held at the Harraseeket Inn in Freeport, ME. This was the first time since COVID that the symposium was held, and MCHA thanks all of the attendees for their participation and assisting with the successful return of this key event.

Over 80 attendees participated in this one-day conference that kicked off with keynote speaker Mark Parkinson, President and CEO of the American Health Care Association. Mark provided the audience with key regulatory and legislative updates, including the latest on the CMS minimum staffing rule. Mark will be retiring at the end of this year and we were delighted and honored to have him join us in Maine. Angela Westhoff, MHCA President & CEO, commented, “Mark has been a tireless advocate for the long term care sector, increasing membership, leading the association with immense skill and diplomacy through turbulent times. He will be greatly missed.”

Additional symposium speakers included Lisa Trundy-Whitten and Tammy Brunetti of BerryDunn, Michelle Paules from Acadia Benefits, and Judy Salisbury, Founder/ President of Logos Presentations. Judy delivered an inspiring afternoon workshop focused on “Building a Positive Work Environment: It Begins with Staff.”

MHCA would also like to express our gratitude to the following event sponsors: Preferred Therapy Solutions, First Atlantic, Affinity Care of Maine LLC, Geriatric Medical, Piper Shores, and BELFOR Property Restoration.
