Public Hearing Held on Assisted Housing Programs Licensing Proposed Rule Changes: MHCA Thanks you for your Participation

On November 13, the DHHS Division of Licensing and Certification (DLC) held a public hearing on the proposed rule changes for assisted living and residential care facilities. Over 60 people attended the public hearing in Augusta and over 100 individuals were on Zoom, demonstrating significant interest in the proposed changes. MHCA wishes to express its sincere thanks to all who attended the hearing or testified to highlight concerns with the changes being contemplated. We collectively make a very strong argument that the Department should halt the process and conduct stakeholder meetings to work collaboratively on the development of a new rule with provider input.

The current proposed rule change is a complete repeal and replacement of the existing rules in force. These are major substantive rule changes, so the legislature will also have an opportunity to review, approve, or amend them. Written comments are now due by Monday, November 25th at 5:00 pm. Comments can be submitted online here, or you can email them to DLC Compliance Analyst Jonathan Leach at Jonathan.H.Leach@maine.gov
