3/20/25 Legislative Update

The legislature has not yet passed a budget to fill the $118 million MaineCare deficit in this fiscal year. Given the struggle to find bipartisan agreement, the Appropriations Committee has begun working on a new bill to secure funding for the state's most pressing financial obligations, including the MaineCare deficit and the next two years' fiscal needs. Today, the legislature is working on this bill and might vote to advance it to the Governor's desk. If it passes with greater than 50% but less than 2/3rds of the members' vote, then the money will not be available for at least 90 days.
