MaineCare Temporary Payment Holds

Long term care facilities have not yet been identified by the Office of MaineCare Services for any payment curtailments. We continue to monitor the situation closely. MaineCare has asked us to be sure providers receive their updates so we are including them in E-news.

Supplemental Budget  
On February 10, 2025, MaineCare sent a notice stating if the Legislature did not pass the Fiscal Year 2025 supplemental budget request to fill the MaineCare shortfall, the Department would not have sufficient funds to pay MaineCare providers in full through the end of the fiscal year.  

On February 26, 2025, MaineCare sent a notice informing providers that the Legislature did not pass the supplemental budget with sufficient votes to enact the bill immediately. The Department is now temporarily withholding certain payments to MaineCare providers.?

MaineCare has since sent the following messages with details regarding weekly payment cycle holds:  In response to provider feedback, MaineCare sent an additional e-message with supporting language for providers who may be receiving MaineCare member concerns. MaineCare continues to send details about weekly payment cycle holding through e-messages. They do not have information about when we can release held payments but will share additional information as we have it.
