As the legislative session progresses, we want to keep you informed about key developments affecting long-term care facilities. Here are the latest updates:
Work Sessions Held for LD 759 and LD 763
On April 10, 2025, the Health and Human Services (HHS) Committee held work sessions for two significant bills:

LD 759 – "An Act to Increase Patient Safety in Long-term Care Facilities"
This bill aims to enhance patient safety protocols within long-term care settings. The committee's deliberations focused on the potential impacts on facility operations and patient outcomes. While no fiscal impact was identified , MHCA has expressed concerns about unintended consequences that could arise from the proposed changes. -
LD 763 – "An Act to Improve Long-term Care by Providing Funding for Nursing Facilities"
This legislation seeks to allocate additional funding to nursing facilities to improve the quality of care. The HHS Committee discussed the financial implications and the necessity of increased support for these facilities. MHCA supports this bill, emphasizing the critical need for sustainable funding to ensure high-quality care for residents.
Upcoming Public Hearing for LD 1489
Looking ahead, a public hearing is scheduled for Monday, April 14, 2025, at 10:00 AM in Cross Building, Room 209, for LD 1489 – "Resolve, to Provide Stability to Long-term Care Facility Funding". This resolve aims to establish measures for stabilizing funding mechanisms for long-term care facilities, ensuring consistent and reliable financial support. MHCA plans to testify in strong support of this resolve, highlighting its importance in maintaining the viability of care facilities across the state. Check out the bill details here.
Call for Op-Ed Writers: Advocate Against Proposed Assisted Housing Rules
The Department of Health and Human Services has proposed significant changes to assisted housing regulations. MHCA is concerned that these changes could adversely affect residents and staff.
