Weekly Legislative Update

As we approach the final stretch of the legislative session, there are several important developments to share:

Hall of Flags – Tuesday, May 27
A big thank you to all the facilities and staff planning to join us at the State House next Tuesday. Your presence at the Hall of Flags will be a powerful reminder to lawmakers of the vital role long term care plays in our communities. It's a great opportunity to connect directly with legislators and help advocate for the support our sector needs.

LD 1720 Update
This week, the Health and Human Services Committee voted LD 1720 out of committee with an important amendment. The bill now moves forward with language requiring the CNA certification exam to be made available in multiple languages. We appreciate the committee's support for this workforce-friendly measure and will continue tracking its progress.

State Budget
Work continues behind the scenes as the Appropriations and Financial Affairs Committee chips away at the state budget. We remain actively engaged in advocating for essential long term care funding and will keep you updated as negotiations unfold.
Please don't hesitate to reach out with any questions—and we look forward to seeing many of you in Augusta on Tuesday!
