Maine Long Term Care Representatives Meet with Members of Congress on Medicaid

Earlier this week, members of the Maine Health Care Association participated in AHCA/NCAL Congressional Briefing in Washington DC. The group also held meetings with all four of Maine's congressional delegates offices. The primary purpose of these meetings was to urge Congress to not cut Medicaid funding and protect access to long term care. Medicaid cuts would be devastating to Maine's older adult and disabled populations. In fact, over 66% of nursing home residents rely on MaineCare (Medicaid) and over 50% in assisted living/ residential care.
Maine representatives included:
  • Angela Westhoff, President/CEO, MHCA
  • John Bolduc, Executive Director of Odd Fellows' and Rebekah's Home of Maine
  • Gabrielle Herbig, President of Sweet Seniors
  • Emily Saucier, Executive Director, Springbrook Center
  • Brad Klawitter, CEO, Maine Veterans' Homes
  • Jason Moore, Director of Strategic Operations for New England, National Health Care Associates Inc.
  • Jennifer Pelletier, Regional Director of Operations for New England, National Health Care Associates Inc.
We were also joined by Michael Bassett, Senior Vice President of Government Relations, for our meeting with Senator Susan Collins.
