Dexcom Issues Recall for Glucose Monitor Receivers Due to Alert Sound Failure

Dexcom, Inc. has issued a recall for certain glucose monitoring receivers used with its G6, G7, ONE, and ONE+ systems. The issue involves a malfunction in the speaker that may prevent the device from sounding alerts when blood sugar levels become dangerously high or low.

This failure could lead to serious health risks, including seizures, vomiting, loss of consciousness, or even death. So far, at least 56 injuries have been reported. No deaths have been reported at this time.

The FDA has classified this as a Class I recall—the most serious type—indicating that continued use of the device could result in serious harm or death.
