CMS Releases State Survey Agency Performance

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has released the Fiscal Year (FY) 2024 State Performance Standards System (SPSS) results in Administrative Memo 25-04-ALL. Through the SPSS program, CMS evaluates each State Survey Agency's performance on defined measures each year. Agencies that did not meet a measure in FY24—or partially met it for a second consecutive year—must submit a corrective action plan for that measure.

The FY24 SPSS measures are organized into three domains:
  1. Survey and Intake Process
  2. Survey and Intake Quality
  3. Noncompliance Resolution
Each domain contains specific metrics that agencies are expected to meet. The memo includes a full breakdown of results by state along with additional details. For further information contact regulatory@ahca.org
