The FDA has approved the updated COVID-19 vaccines.

The new vaccines, which target the LP.8.1 strain, have been authorized from Pfizer, Moderna, and Novavax. They are approved for everyone age 65 and older, while use in younger adults and children is limited to those with at least one high-risk health condition, such as asthma or obesity.

Several questions remain, including potential impacts on CMS requirements, insurance coverage, and other policy issues. AHCA/NCAL is actively in discussions with the CDC and CMS regarding these topics.

This fall, multiple pharmacies will be offering on-site vaccine clinics at centers. Facilities are encouraged to reach out to Community Pharmacy and/or Maine Veterans Homes Pharmacy to arrange on-site clinics for their vaccination needs.
