AHCA/NCAL Tools to Support Recruitment and Retention

As the industry continues to deal with high levels of vacancies, and the arrival of winter doesn't do us in Maine any favors, it's a good time to review the tools put forward by NHCA/NCAL.
Their campaign Caregivers for Tomorrow is a nationwide effort around policy and regulatory changes (large and small) to increase the workforce with tools and solutions that push the industry forward.
Solutions include:
- Developing incentive programs including loan forgiveness, tax credits and affordable housing to incentivize workers into the field.
- Providing grants and apprenticeship programs that support career ladder opportunities and make education in the field more accessible.
- Push forward the use of telehealth, AI clinical options to reduce burnout among caregivers and utilize modern technologies.
- Push reforms to ensure legal pathways for international caregivers to come to the U.S. for careers in LTC.
