Nursing Facility Quality Bonus Pool Payments Delayed
On December 22, 2025, DHHS emailed letters to administrators and senior level leadership for nursing facilities that met the 2025 participation criteria to earn a Quality Bonus Payment (QBP) award. Each letter included the anticipated dollar amount for each facility, as described in the MaineCare Benefits Manual (MBM), Chapter III, Section 67 (22.6.3). The payment date and confirmation of the final amount in contingent on approval from Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). DHHS will send an update upon federal approval and will release payments approximately two weeks after federal approval.
MHCA will continue to monitor this situation and recognize that nursing facilities were told that these payments would be issued by 2025 calendar year end.
