New Report and Resources on Solo Aging in Rural Communities
The University of Maine Center on Aging and the Consortium for Aging Policy Research Analysis (CAPRA) undertook a research project to engage directly with solo agers and the community providers who provide services to them. Their research has resulted in a
report entitled "Solo Aging in Rural Communities: Exploring Experience & Practice to Raise Awareness" that was released in December 2025. Their research included interviews with 34 older adults aging alone, and resulted in a new a Solo Aging Resource Center
website.
