CARES Act relief funds is being used to fund this additional phase of economic recovery for nursing facilities, residential care facilities (PNMI-C) and adult family care homes that demonstrate a need for financial relief. A flat payment based on the available funds ($12.5 million) divided by the total licensed beds for all eligible providers limited to the net loss incurred by individual provider's during the COVID-19 period. Any remaining funds will be allocated to all remaining eligible providers proportionally based on unrecovered net loss (net loss for the COVID-19 period less flat fee). The net loss utilized for the allocation of remaining funds will be capped at the median of individual net losses by facilities (less the flat fee payment) plus 25%. The 25% may be increased to ensure all available funds are distributed. Please note that the calculation will be based on the period with the greatest net loss, either 4/1/20-3/31/21 or 1/1/21-3/31/21.
MHCA encourages all nursing facilities, residential care facilities-appendix Cs, and adult family care homes to submit an application. A frequently asked questions document can be found at: www.maine.gov/dhhs/audit.
