MHCA joins provider associations urging Senator Collins to intervene on Medicare sequestration

MHCA joined the Maine Home Care and Hospice Alliance and the Maine Hospital Association to urge Senator Susan Collins to act to extend the moratorium on the Medicare sequester. Members may recall that Congress extended Medicare sequestration relief through the end of last year due to the pandemic.
The letter says, in part,

“We are concerned that any loss in funding could trigger interruption of services or closures of facilities and agencies that are already operating on very thin margins. To that end, we are writing to ask you to once again introduce legislation that would prevent cuts to Medicare payments to health care providers from taking effect during the COVID-19 public health emergency. The pandemic is not over in Maine as we continue to combat this virus every day in our respective settings.”
The letter also thanks Senator Collins for championing this issue previously. MHCA will keep members informed of any updates.
