“My future plans and commitment to long-term care is forever. Long-term care is the only type of nursing I can see myself doing - I love the geriatric population, they have so many stories to tell and so much to teach us. You are there from the moment they walk through the doors to their last breath. You grow relationships with not only the residents but their loved ones and I think that is so special.”
“I love working with my residents in the long-term care facility and I knew when I made the decision to future my career, it was going to be with them. I am currently the director of the program center and I plan on staying here. I might even consider taking the certification to become the Administrator of the facility one day!”
“I can't imagine doing anything else but working in long term care. The residents and families we serve have become members of our own family. I want to impress upon the young minds the importance of listening and caring for the elderly. The elderly should be a prized resource of knowledge and experience. They deserve to be treated as such and I want to be able to be a bigger part of making their lives better.”
“My plan is to become a nurse and work in long term care when I graduate. I love the residents and staff. I have a passion for the elderly and want to see them get the best quality care possible. The need for nurses is tremendous in these times, and I want to see the growing elderly population have the care they deserve after all they have been through in their lives.”
Since the inception of the program, the Fund has awarded $72,250, supporting 126 students in their educational pursuits. Over the past decade, we have relied on annual fundraisers, however, COVID-19 limited these efforts this year. If you are thinking about giving during this holiday season, we hope you please consider a gift to the MMSF! Please help us support applicants like the ones above who are committed to caring for our State's long term care residents.
