Legislative Update

MHCA continues to advocate for additional funding in the Supplemental Budget, LD 1995, An Act To Make Supplemental Appropriations and Allocations for the Expenditures of State Government, General Fund and Other Funds and To Change Certain Provisions of the Law Necessary to the Proper Operations of State Government for the Fiscal Years Ending June 30, 2022 and June 30, 2023.

The Appropriations and Financial Affairs Committee has held several work sessions this week to review various sections of the LD 1995, the Supplemental budget. The $25 million in COVID-19 one-time funding for add-on payments for nursing facilities and residential care facilities was unanimously voted into the Supplemental budget in Wednesday's straw poll. Straw polling is a process used by Committees to gauge support or opposition in advance of a formal vote. MHCA continues to advocate for increased funding to support 125% of minimum wage for direct care workers in long term care facilities. We will continue to provide updates.
