Free Phlebotomy Training Program

Kennebec Valley Community College is offering a free phlebotomy training program. Become a certified phlebotomist that will transition from the classroom into the workforce. This course consists of a three-phase sequence dealing with the theory, practice, lab and clinical experience. Phase 1: online learning will focus on infection control and safety practices, phlebotomy equipment and techniques, anatomy and physiology of the circulatory system, specimen preparation and handling and the ethical and legal aspects of phlebotomy. Practice proper procedures in the collection of blood specimens by venipuncture in a classroom (lab) setting. Phase 2: students will perform venipuncture and the associated labs at a hospital or a practice-based laboratory for 100 hours. Phase 3: prepares each student to sit for the ASCP Certification.
