MHCA Announces New Director of Public Affairs

Maine Health Care Association is pleased to announce that Benjamin Hawkins has accepted the position of Director of Public Affairs. Ben has a history of communications, public relations, and workforce development. Previously, he served as the marketing specialist for Eastern Maine Development Corporation, program coordinator for the Northeastern Workforce Development Board, and business outreach coordinator for Congressman Jim Himes.
 
Ben has worked closely with a diverse team of state and regional partners to create a cohesive system that meets the workforce development needs of those affected by substance use disorder. He has created and led presentations with workforce and business partners and built relationships that enhance communication and collaboration. While at EMDC, he helped to increase the company's revenue stream by $2.1 million through grant writing and grew the organization's brand via social media, website marketing, and strengthening media relationships.
 
Ben possesses a broad skill set including brand development, social media, marketing, and design experience as well as GIS mapping and data analysis. He graduated from UConn with a bachelor's degree in history and human rights. Ben lives in Brewer with his wife, Sarah, and their dog. His first official day in the office will be October 11th.
