Summary from ME DHHS/CDC COVID LTC Call

On Tuesday, December 6, the Maine DHHS/CDC hosted a COVID-19 call for LTC Medical Directors and Clinicians. Below are some of the key takeaways:

The Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) is rising slowly this season.

Influenza is on track for a high flu season.
  • Piscataquis county is especially severe so far this season
  • Maine is currently “high”
  • Like COVID-19, PPE is a helpful tool for reducing the spread of the flu
COVID hospitality is showing a small sign of increasing in Maine.

US CDC Core IPC Updates changed its guidance last week:
“During periods of higher levels of community respiratory virus transmission°, facilities should consider having everyone mask upon entry to the facility to ensure better adherence to respiratory hygiene and cough etiquette for those who might be infectious.”The next call will be Tuesday, March 7.
