In response to Maine's November application for federal funding through CMS's Rural Health Transformation Program (RHTP), the federal government announced this week Maine's award of more than $190 million. Maine's funds will be used for initiatives that strengthen and enhance rural health care.
While the specifics of exactly how the funds will be expended is yet to be seen, the application which can be found here, anticipates, among other areas, a focus on: expansion of telehealth, services and programs promoting wellness and positive health outcomes, and strengthening of the rural health workforce.
All 50 states will receive funding as part of the RHTP.
