Attention Nursing Facilities and Residential Care Facilities – Rate Letters for State Fiscal Year 2023

Rate letters for providers in Section 67 and Section 97, Appendix C will be delayed. Rate letters will be sent out no later than September 1, 2022. Rates listed on those letters will be retroactive to July 1, 2022.

Per Section AAAA-5 of the biennial budget, 2021 P.L. Ch. 398, MaineCare is adjusting direct care rates for providers in Section 67 and Section 97, Appendix C and increasing cost reimbursement caps as necessary to enable providers to cover labor costs for essential support workers of at least 125% of the minimum wage.

This delay, decided upon in collaboration with the Maine Health Care Association, is due to the effort required for the Department to collect additional wage data beyond what is available in facilities' cost reports to determine what rate increase, if any, is required for each facility to cover labor costs at 125% of minimum wage.

If you have any questions regarding rate letters, please contact Rate Setting directly by emailing either Dwayne.A.Parsons@maine.gov or Grace.Williams@maine.gov.
